Messier 71

Messier 71
Messier 71

Hello,

after many moon-sketches and planet pictures, I decided that it´s time to draw a deep-sky-object. A very interesting globular cluster ist Messier 71 in Sagitta.

It is my first globular cluster and I needed about half an hour to fix the brighter stars around the object. After this the finer stars followed in the center of M 71.

It demanded a high concentration, but I’m happy about the result.

So here is my Messier 71.

Best greetings Uwe

After few days, I went to the national art gallery to see monochrome paintings.

Suddenly an inspiration flashed through my mind.

And I drew the M13 with acrylic & brush.

I love this tough painting than detailed sketch!

Messier 92
Messier 92

Object Name: Messier 92
Object Type: Globular Cluster
Location: Poland/Starogard Gdański
Date: 24.07.2012
Media: graphite pencil/digital tools (GIMP)
Weather Conditions: Clear sky, light pollution from street lanterns
Time:1:30 AM
Equipment: SW 150/750 ,Baader Hyperion 13mm.

Hi everyone!
This is my next DS sketch. This time I drew M92 globular cluster. I
used Baader Hyperion 13mm Eyepiece. In my opinion this is quite good
Eyepiece for this sort of things. As my media I used graphite pencil
and white sheet of paper. I did small corretions in GIMP too. M92 is
one of my favourite deep sky obejcts. It’s small globule but for me
its admirable. So, I spent about 2h doing this sketch. Mainly because
its hard to locate this quantity of stars properly. The weather was
good enough to made this capture, I wish you have clear sky too.
However the seeing was not excellent again but its not uncommon in a
place where I live. Additionally light pollution from streets lanterns
irritate me all the time. However astronomy is too fantastic hobby to
stop doing sketches only because of lanterns.
I hope you enjoy my sketch.

Greetings from Poland

Object name: M13
Type of object: Globular Star Cluster
Date: 08 June 2012
seeing 6/10
Type of telescope: Refractor 102/500mm
Eyepiece: Ultra Wide 6mm 66º (83X)
Location: Arouca, in Portugal
White paper and pencil

Hello,

I made this sketch near the center of a city, where the light pollution is medium. The sky had a little high fog, but I can see the stars very well. But my principal enemy was the small aperture of my refractor . I don’t use any light pollution filter.

My sketch was done with a pencil, on white paper and then reversed the color in GIMP software.

Hope you enjoy!

Best regards

Comet Garradd and Messier 92
Comet Garradd and Messier 92

Object Name: Comet Garradd and M92
Object Type: comet, globular gluster
Location: Cherry Springs Dark Sky Park, Pennsylvania
Date: February 3, 2012
Media: Digitally simulated chalk and white pencil on black paper.

I literally had seconds to glimpse it this morning, so my sketch cannot be accurate (9:30 UT). We were completely socked in. I waited 45 minutes for a tiny tear in the cloud cover to sweep rapidly across
Hercules. Then for another 30 minutes there was no other opportunity and I went back to bed. Now, a long wait under almost complete cloud cover makes you exceptionally well dark adapted… so I really believe it was the comet that I saw with the naked eye for a few moments as I was raising my binoculars with
shaking hands. Blue, near grey zone, altitude 2400 ft/700 m.
